Dear Parents/Guardians,
Federation of Wade Deacon High School and Fairfield High School Proposal
The community now have an opportunity to respond to a consultation about the proposed federation of Wade Deacon High School and Fairfield High School. The links above will direct you to the proposal and to how you can respond.
I would like to stress that the proposal has the full backing of the Governing Body of Fairfield High School as we believe it offers:
- The best means to ensure that the quality of teaching and learning is sustained at Fairfield during the next two years
- The best means of preparing students and staff for the period of transition and for the future
- The best means by which both schools can share good practice and bring together what is best into the expanded Wade Deacon High School in September 2010
We want to reassure parents/guardians that the proposal has been agreed with the interests of the children as the key factor in committing to working together within a federation.
If any parent/guardian has concerns and wishes to discuss any issues relating to the federation proposal or the education of their child please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
Yours sincerely,
Jeff Hughes

Letter From Halton
Dear Parent
Following the decision made on Monday 19th May the Executive Board of Halton Borough Council has given approval for the statutory proposal to close Fairfield High School in August 2010 and expand Wade Deacon High School in September 2010. There will be a transitional period, which will encompass the use of both School sites through to the completion in 2013 of work on the remodelled and refurbished Wade Deacon School.
The decision has not been taken lightly and has involved considerable consultation. The Council very much appreciates the concerns that a period of change will cause, however, we would like to reassure you that maintaining and further developing standards and learning and teaching is our priority. As a Council we will continue to work in partnership with Fairfield High School and Wade Deacon High School to achieve this.
To ensure a successful transition the Council will provide significant additional finance for the two schools to manage capacity during the transition and also additional support in the form of:
Personnel and Welfare Support Services
Learning and Teaching
Governance
Business Support and Commissioning Department
In the coming weeks and months we will keep you fully informed. Be assured that the quality and success of you child's education remains our highest priority.
Yours sincerely
Gerald Meehan
