Drummer boy is number one

A GIFTED schoolboy hopes to become the UK's young drummer of the year.
Lewis O'Neil, aged 14, has recorded a three minute solo DVD and is competing against 600 other hopefuls.
Rick Astley's drummer, Chris Brown, has only been teaching him for four years yet he's already gained a distinction in his grade seven exam."We're really proud of him," said his mum, Jackie of Crossgates, Widnes.
"He's doing really well."
Fairfield High School pupil, Lewis is in the school samba band and jazz band and receives extra tuition from music teacher Janet Whittingham.

"It's a wonderful school," said Jackie. "I can't fault it." We will be really upset if it does close." Mrs Whittingham has given Lewis a lot of confidence. The hours she puts in are unbelievable. I don't think she ever goes home! She is marvellous."
Lewis has inspired his dad, Frank to take up the drums again. He has just passed his grade five exam.
